Iran’s ‘Trip to the Moon’ vying at Karlovy Vary filmfest

Iran's ‘Trip to the Moon’ is on screen at the Karlovy Vary Int'l Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Iranian feature film ‘Trip to the Moon’ has been on screen at the 57th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) in the Czech Republic.

Mohammadreza Shayannejad’s debut feature is on display at the ‘Another Birth. Iranian Cinema Here and Now’ section of the Czech event.

A brief synopsis for the flick reads, “Zoya’s voice is placed in a bottle. Something both ethereal and mechanical is shimmering in the air. Farid plans to construct a device which would enable him to record this invisible movement.

Reality breaks up into tiny fragments; voices from the past and future start to materialise. Zoya sets off on a trip to the Moon. An electrifying film generated from brilliant waves, streaking through the air with tempestuous force”.

Monir Beytari, Misagh Bahrololomian, Sadra Behbodi and Parisa Hoseini comprise the cast list of the movie.

‘Trip to the Moon’ is produced by the independent filmmaking group Kamja Film.

The KVIFF is one of the oldest in the world and has become Central and Eastern Europe’s leading film event.

The festival unveiled its official selection, which comprises 33 films from five continents, screening across three sections, including Crystal Globe Competition and Special Screenings section.

The 2023 edition of the festival kicked off on June 30 and it is set to wrap up on July 8 in Karlovy Vary.
